- Law Firm Moves Into
New Offices
- We
are pleased to announce the opening of our new, larger offices this
May. Located adjacent to the John Wayne Orange County Airport,
our new facility features leading-edge information
technology in a tranquil setting on the banks of a water garden. While the
office is furnished in traditional decor, beneath the granite and
hardwood surfaces lies a broadband network
of computer, video, and telecommunications technology. Whether
meeting with clients, or engaging with opposing
lawyers and litigants, these new facilities enhance our presentation
of electronic evidence and video testimony in aid of our clients'
cases. Please call when you will be in the neighborhood; we would be
happy to
show you our new headquarters.
- Endorsement of
Commissioner Lon Hurwitz for Election to Judge
- The
Honorable Lon Hurwitz has served the Orange County community with
distinction as a Superior Court Commissioner since 2004. Attorney
Doug Schroeder is proud to endorse Commissioner Hurwitz in the
June 8, 2010 county-wide election for Judge of the Superior Court.
Through his distinguished service as a Commissioner and over 30
years as an attorney, Lon Hurwitz has proven he will be an
outstanding member of the Orange County bench. To learn more about
this highly qualified candidate for judge, please visit his website

- Trial Lawyers
aid families facing serious illness and disabilities
- In
their pursuit of corporate profits, special interest
groups--insurers and corporate lobbyists like the Chamber of
Commerce--are adept at bashing "greedy trial lawyers"
through dramatic cries for "tort reform." But actions
speak louder than words. Personal injury attorney Doug Schroeder
lauds the charitable outreach of his fellow trial lawyers through
the sustained efforts of the Orange
County Trial Lawyers Association. Each November, OCTLA holds a
charity auction to raise funds for worthwhile groups helping people
meet daunting challenges. Knots-of-Love,
a public charity that provides knitted caps to patients who have
lost hair through chemotherapy and illness, is the chosen charity
partner for our upcoming Top Gun event November 20, 2010. Charities
we have supported include the Pediatric
Cancer Research Foundation, the Downs
Syndrome Association of Orange County, and the Assistance
League of Laguna Beach. Please consider generously supporting
the valiant work of these esteemed charities.
- Advancement in
Leadership of Consumer Attorneys Organization
- In
January 2010,
Doug Schroeder took the oath of office as First Vice President of
the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association ("OCTLA"),
continuing his advancement up the ladder of the organization's
leadership. The OCTLA's mission is venerable: "helping
attorneys provide their clients the best possible legal
representation." In common with OCTLA's credo, Mr. Schroeder
has helped promote high
standards of ethical conduct and integrity amongst attorneys
throughout his 21-year career, including by teaching and mentoring
other lawyers. To learn more about OCTLA and how its leaders
are bettering the quality of legal practice for lawyers and
consumers, please visit www.octla.org.
- Reception for
Debra Carrillo, Winning Judicial Candidate
- Attorney
Doug Schroeder was proud to co-host a campaign event for
Debra Carrillo. Recognizing her distinguished service as a police
officer, public defender, and prosecutor, voters overwhelmingly
elected Debra Carrillo as Judge of the Orange County
Superior Court.
-
Doug Schroeder honored by prestigious Super
Lawyer designation
- Firm
founder Douglas W. Schroeder was pleased to learn that his peers
have deemed him a Southern California Super Lawyer, one
of only a relative handful of attorneys in the region, and one of
only two lawyers in all of Orange County, so named as experts in
Transportation Law. The unsolicited inscription of Mr.
Schroeder's name to this select list in 2007 adds to his other
accolades, including a "preeminent" AV rating by
Martindale-Hubbell—the highest peer reviewed rating for ethics and
legal ability conferred in
the nation.*
-
Peers elect Mr. Schroeder vice president of
trial lawyers association
- The
leadership of the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association elected attorney Douglas W. Schroeder as Third Vice
President of the organization in 2007. Mr. Schroeder—who has steadily
worked his way up the ranks of the association's leadership—is deeply honored by his colleague's resounding vote
of confidence.
-
Law firm supports Homes for Heroes with
charitable fundraising
- Thomas
Fuller is credited with saying, "charity begins at home, but
should not end there." Bringing these words to life, the Law
Offices of Douglas W. Schroeder regularly supports a variety of
charitable causes. The firm was proud to join the
Orange County Trial Lawyers Association in supporting the Habitat
for Humanity® Homes for Heroes project, providing
housing for disabled American veterans and the families of soldiers
killed in action. Nearly $25,000 was raised through the sale of
donated items at auction during OCTLA's annual Top Gun awards
dinner. Attorney Doug Schroeder donated a chartered helicopter sightseeing and dinner
flight for two, and procured other auction items generously donated by Helistream
and
Pedersen Law & Dispute
Resolution, which enhanced the charity auction.
